Monument Circle

This is where I'm staying this week. Downtown Indy. My hotel is just behind the monument in this shot and my view is from the 18th floor. Not too bad. Will post more soon. Drove 10 hours and I'm tired.

2nd ANNUAL BARTENDING COMPETITION

The 2008 Greater Kansas City Bartending Competition will be held at the Uptown Theater on Sunday, Aug 10th. This will be the second in their annual competition. In last year’s inaugural event, they sold 450 tickets, and raised nearly $8000 for the HALO Foundation. In addition to raising money for a great charity, our goal is to “raise the bar” for the art of mixology in Kansas City. Dale “King Cocktail” Degroff will be the celebrity guest judge, along with Ryan Maybee, Doug Frost, and Lisa Burgess. Dale is one of the most revered experts in his field, and authored the book “The Craft of the Cocktail”. Doug is a KC native and Master Sommelier and Master of Wine. Ryan and Lisa are local experts in the restaurant and bar community. This competition is focused on the craft that goes into making a great cocktail, and aims to shed light on the skill, talent, creativity, and professionalism that exists in the bartending industry. The use of quality ingredients, proper techniques, and a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of mixology will determine the winners. The finals will be held on August 10th and will include not only the competition, but also live music from The Roman Numerals, a DJ, a flair demonstration by the Angel’s Rock Bar bartenders, and food catered from some of the area’s best restaurants including Jp Wine Bar, JJ’s, The Drop, Nara, and Makers Mark Bourbon House.

When and Where: Sunday, August 10th at the Uptown Theater 6pm
Who: Kansas City’s top 12 Bartenders and Mixologists, Live Music, DJ, KC’s Best Restaurants
Prizes: $1000 for First Place, $500 Second, $250 Third. Top 3 recipes published in Cheers Magazine nationally and Ink locally

This is a spec commercial I did in 1999. Thought you all might enjoy seeing it for the nostalgia factor.

I created and directed this in 1999. Still seems relevant today.

Indy Bound

Its that time again kids... I'm off to start production on another documentary crime series for A&E. Much to my excitement I have been asked to join the producing staff of "CRIME 360." I will be opening up a new city for the show when I take off for... wait for it... INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA.

The Indy homicide rate is 5 times higher than the national average. It was rated #17 in 2006. Baltimore was rated #2 in the same year - coming in just behind Detroit. But for some reason Baltimore just isn't fond of documentary film crews.

Summer is here, so I guess I'll see some action. I am due to depart for THE CIRCLE CITY at the end of June.

If you want to check it out, the show is currently airing on Thursdays at 10pm. My stories probably won't air until the Winter schedule.

Gas Prices

These prices are about a month old... but still, we don't have it as bad as Europe.
